FAQs
1.
How do I know what Size Cabinet to order?
Consider how much space is to be taken up by all the
equipment in your rackmount cabinet i.e. switches, consoles,
panels etc and leave space for future expansion.
We are able to supply standard and bespoke
sized cabinets, so no matter what your application we
should be able to find a cabinet to suit. Check out
our cabinet sizing page for more information.

2. How
deep should my shelving be?
Take the depth of your equipment and add-on 10%.

3. Which
type of door is best glass, steel or mesh?
This completely depends on your application. Glass doors
are standard, but for specific application or environments,
such as industrial or manufacturing, steel or mesh may
be more suitable. We’ll help you decide this when
you order.

4. What’s
the best way to get power to the devices in my Rackmount
Cabinets?
PDUs (Power Distribution Strips) are best for this.
They’re available in a variety of options to suit
most requirements – see our Rackmount Accessories
Page for more.

5. How
important is it to Earth Bond my Rackmount Cabinet?
It’s required by law to meet HSE standards!

6. Do
I need a fan in my Rackmount Cabinet?
We’d recommend that all rackmount cabinets have
at least a 2 way fan. Keeping your equipment cool will
prolong it’s life and performance. If you go for
a rackmount cabinet that’s over 27U consider a
bigger fan, such as a 4 way. Check out our rackmount
accessories page for options.

7. What
do I need in my Rackmount Cabinet if I’m using
it for Patch cabling?
As well as your patch panels you should consider cable
trays, rings and raceways to help you keep your cabling
tidy, orgainsied and accessible. Check out our rackmount
accessories page for more information.

8. Which
is best castors or a plinth?
This all depends on whether you want your cabinet to
move or not! If it’s vital your cabinet doesn’t
move, order a plinth. If manoeuvreability is important
order castors. (you can also order locking castors if
you’d prefer these to a plinth)

9. How
much will it cost to get a rackmount cabinet delivered?
Our current cabinet delivery prices are £37.50
inside the M25 and £50.00 outside of the M25,
South of Manchester and east of Bristol. Delivery costs
are subject to size and number of rackmount cabinets
and exact point of delivery (in some cases a 'sighting'
